DONNA BELLA- REBRAND
Donna Bella is a trusted name in the beauty industry, providing the highest quality hair products and accessories to both consumers and professional stylists. These top-tier hair extensions / products have been able to carve their way in the industry since 2003 by providing quality and innovation- however, with the of conservative projection of continued growth and anticipation of being sold in stores in 2026, the need for a bold, cohesive, elevated, re-imagined brand identity that accurately conveyed this caliber became abhorrently apparent. I was given the opportunity to work with RoAndCo design agency alongside the Donna Bella Brand team to conceptualize an entirely new brand identity with the goal of curating an editorial, striking, distinctive visual language that not only raises brand awareness but propels overall growth. After the initial brand guide was completed, I was then given the opportunity to creative direct and design the implementation of the new identity across all channels cohesively, driving sales by appealing to the target audience, facilitating consumer comprehension, and standing out among competition.

Creative Brief
Work with RoAndCo and the Donna Bella brand team to conceptualize, create, and refine a new brand identity that communicates the desired sophisticated, timeless, innovative, striking sentiment through design. Creative Direct the adaptation of this brand guide and curate the translation across all touchpoints to preserve the essence and aesthetic of the new identity and ensure that this desired sentiment is conveyed through all brand assets. Design all of the assets necessary to establish the new brand identity, evoking an editorial sensibility and elegance through a consistent emphasis on imagery that aligns with the new art direction, prioritization of information design through editorial typography, and a bold application of color, in order to accomplish the initiatives of several internal teams under one unified visual solution.

Donna Bella has been a trusted name in the professional hair industry for over 20 years, providing high quality hair products, accessories, and education to help stylists create transformative looks for their clients. The brand is an industry leader- providing sustainable, ethically sourced, 100% Remy human hair extensions to thousands of stylists and consumers across North America. Several years ago the brand began to sell products directly to consumers (in addition to salons and stylists), and since has experienced growth that has emphasized the desperate need for a reimagined brand identity. With the of conservative projection of continued growth and anticipation of being sold in big box beauty retail storefronts in 2026, the need for an updated brand identity that that prioritized design in order to drive initial sales, increase demand, attract new customers, and establish customer loyalty was at an all-time high.

Synthesize the goals of the brand, marketing, ecommerce, copywriting, and production teams at Beauty industry group via visual solutions that exemplify the new brand identity / establish the new aesthetic by prioritizing design while simultaneously accomplishing their individual team initiatives. Creative direct and design how the brand guide is brought to life, evoking an elevated, innovative, memorable consumer sentiment that is communicated at a glance and will stand out in a competitive storefront such as Sephora or Ulta. Curate a striking new take on the industry that reflects the editorial sensibility and elegance of the rebrand with the accessibility, playfulness and high quality of the product.

My first project Beauty Industry Group was to work with RoAndCo to conceptualize, develop and finalize the new Donna Bella brand identity. I was also responsible for communicating the various brand design needs, content requirements and internal team initiatives to the agency to ensure adaptability and application were achievable. After receiving the finalized brand guide, I was given the opportunity to creative direct and design the implementation of the new brand identity and the various brand assets that were used to introduce, establish and define the new visual identity of Donna Bella across all channels. A large part of this process was working with 1R Agency to collaborate on a website wireframe and designing all the content necessary for the new site design. Lastly, I worked cross functionally with internal and external teams (1R for web development, packaging factories, warehouses, etc.) to launch the new visual identity seamlessly across a new website, 340+ flow emails, salon print assets / in-store signage, print & digital advertisements, organic social, 300+ packaging components, etc.

With the goal of introducing the new Donna Bella identity across all channels in a seamless, cohesive manor that not only exemplified the brand aesthetic, but communicated the desired brand sentiment at a glance- I implemented a set of consistent design choices that were widely adaptable across mediums. In order to convey an editorial sensibility and elegance at a glance, I implemented a consistent usage of both the primary and secondary logomarks in terms of scale, color, orientation and layout. I utilized a bold application of color, intentional typography, and a purposeful imagery in order to curate a clean, striking, approachable yet elevated, refined brand sentiment through the prioritization of design. By placing an emphasis on imagery that embodied the new art direction, prioritizing information design through editorial typography, and incorporating a bold application of color, I was able to achieve the goals of several internal teams with a unified visual solution. In terms of art direction, we transformed our production level to facilitate editorial, high-value, beauty centered photoshoots that featured confident, radiant models with various hair types and ethnicities. We focused our images on genuine expressions and loose, playful movements that would attract the eye and stand out from the competition, while reflecting the elevated quality of the brand.
